Eat Mor Chikin (Cake)!

Highland Bakery recently had the opportunity to make a birthday cake for an Atlanta Legend. Mr. Truett Cathy, founder of Chick-Fil-A, celebrated his 90th birthday on March 14th and we were commissioned to make his cake and we went with the classic that started it all-- the original chicken sandwich.

However, our chicken sandwich was approximately 20" tall, 25" wide, and tasted like vanilla!

Joshua and Heidi, you outdid yourselves. I'm not sure if any of us can look at pictures of this cake without seriously craving that chicken-y goodness and a side of waffle fries.

2011 CATIE Award Winner

The International Caterers Association's CATIE Awards took place last week in Las Vegas and Highland Bakery is pleased to announce that we were awarded "Best Celebration Cake" for Karen Portaleo's Octopus cake. The cake was made for the Georgia Aquarium's Aqua Vino gala in 2009. We were told that what put our cake over the top were the realistic suction cups on its tentacles and veiny skin.

We are so grateful for this award and that Karen's talent is being acknowledged by so many.
