Cake Me Out to the Ballgame!

Highland Bakery and the Atlanta Braves are teaming up for Ultimate Kids Day on August 8th. We will be making a very special cake for Homer, the Braves' mascot, to celebrate his birthday! Before the game begins we will cut and serve the cake, so come by and say hello to your favorite cake team and grab a slice of our finest.

With admission, kids 14 and under will have the opportunity to participate in a pre-game parade around the field, visit the Braves museum, play interactive games in Scouts Alley and Monument Grove, and run the bases post-game. There will also be autograph signing pre-game by some of the Braves Alumni.

You can also catch Karen this Thursday, August 5th, on Good Day Atlanta. She will be showing off a few of her skills as well as talking a little more about our involvement with Ultimate Kids Day 2010.

Power Brunch

Our long-awaited expansion is officially complete and open for business. Highland Bakery Midtown is located in the 1180 Peachtree building off of 14th and Crescent.The new location will be open Monday through Friday from 7a.m. -5p.m. Our Midtown menu is a slightly scaled-down version of the original, but will be sure to satisfy your Highland Bakery hunger pangs for those of you who are incapable of traveling to the Old 4th Ward on your lunch break. Along with a rotating assortment of our bakeshop goodies and sandwiches, you will also see HB staples like Shrimp and Grits, Peanut Butter French Toast, Sweet Potato Panckes, and omelets. In addition to the amazing food that you have come to know and love, Highland Bakery Midtown has a bright, knowledgeable, friendly staff and the decor is sure to charm... "Organic Elegance" as we like to call it.

We Want You!

It is that time of year again, that time where your votes count! Through July 31st Creative Loafing is accepting votes for their 'Best of Atlanta 2010'. It only takes a couple of minutes and if you're in a rush, you only have to submit 5 answers out of the 300+ for your votes to be valid.

Let Atlanta know where the best grits (Hello! House-milled!), brunch, sweet treats, coffee, and waitstaff are. There is even a category for best blog and blogger... I'm just sayin'.

Make Mine a Mini

Our mini cakes have been given a face-lift. Chocolate Truffle and Caramel are shown here, but keep an eye out for two more. Red Velvet and Vanilla will also be available on a daily basis. Each cake serves four and is a delicious remedy for a (forgotten) birthday, at home date night, or any impromtu celebration. They already look like little gift boxes, so no real wrapping required.

Freedom Never Tasted So Good.

The 4th of July is this Sunday, as you should know, and we here at Highland Bakery love a good reason to be festive. Heidi and Nikki have created some amazing cookies that will make your sparkler-waving, lightning bug-catching, watermelon-munching inner child squeal with delight!



These are the perfect something extra for your bbq or a fun and whimsical hostess gift; which may help in getting you out of clean-up duty.
There are also a few to mimick your meatier snacks for the weekend. However, like it or not, they do not taste like pork.
