Hey, Sugar!

Highland Bakery can make your sweetest custom cookie dreams come true. Hand-painted designs on our melt-in-your-mouth brown sugar cookies make for a fun gift or dessert, no matter the occassion.

And these aren't your grandma's sugar cookies.

Here is one from a batch that Nikki Starz, one of our cake artists, created for a client yesterday.

Light and not too sweet, these may be a perfect option if you're not a "cake person".

Your neighborhood Highland Bakery is joining the blogging world. Highland Bloggery, if you will.

If you're not familiar with us, we are located in the Old 4th Ward neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia and have been since 2001. We pride ourselves on our excellent coffee, baked goods, lunch, brunch, and show-stopping, mind-blowing specialty cakes.

We decided to start a blog as a way to keep our friends, customers, and community up to date on our goings on because, let's face it, sometimes 140 characters simply isn't enough.

For those of you already familiar with us, you will be pleased to know (we hope!) that we will soon be opening a second location. In the next few weeks, you will be able to enjoy our exceptional goods at our new store in the 1180 Peachtree building.

Whether or not you've been able to stop in and try our treats first hand, you may have already caught a glimpse of what we do on tv. Most recently we were featured on TLC's Bodacious Bakeries for our ridiculously decadent Peanut Butter French Toast. Additionally, two of our cake artists are pretty well known in Food Network Challenge world as well. Karen Portaleo has participated in two challenges, her latest to be aired in October. Joshua John Russell, has been apart of eleven cake challenges and also has an upcoming episode that will be aired in September. More on that at another time.

Thanks for reading and be sure to check back soon!
